For three days this August, the open-air plaza at the heart of Jungceylon becomes a football stadium. Thirty-two kindergarten teams from across southern Thailand will play for a national minister's trophy, and the cheerleading squads on the sidelines will be competing just as seriously as the players on the pitch.
This is the 13th edition of Jungceylon Junior Soccer, and the 2026 theme is World Cup Dream
What is Jungceylon Junior Soccer?
Jungceylon Junior Soccer is a regional kindergarten-level football tournament and cheerleading competition, organised by Jungceylon shopping centre in Patong, Phuket. It is open to kindergarten teams from schools across southern Thailand. The champions receive an honorary trophy, scholarships, alongside medals and certificates.
The tournament exists to get very young children playing sport, to build the sportsmanship principle Thai schools call รู้แพ้ รู้ชนะ รู้อภัย, knowing how to lose, how to win, and how to forgive. The activity embraces families and school communities together. It also serves Phuket's wider sports-tourism ambitions, which is why provincial and national figures put their names on the trophies.
